K. J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology, Sion, Mumbai in association with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is organizing Innovative Business Plan Competition 2020 on February 29, 2020.

This competition is a part (Institute-level Round 1) of the upcoming IIC National Innovation Contest 2020 being organized by MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC) during the MIC Annual Innovation Festival on August 30, 2020.

 

About IIC National Innovation Contest 2020

 

IIC National Innovation Contest 2020 aims at identifying creative minds from Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), engaging them in building innovations, nurturing them through a series of mentoring sessions and bootcamps. Innovation Contest is a 360-degree approach to complete a cycle of Innovation and Entrepreneurship through a process of problem identification, ideation and enterprise building in a time period of Half-One year.


There are 3 phases of IIC National Innovation Contest 2020: Institute-level, Regional-level and National-level Competition.

Benefits of Participation:

  • Institute-level Competition Winners will get an opportunity to participate in Regional-level Mentoring Session and Competition organized by MHRD’s Innovation Cell and will be awarded as IIC Innovation Ambassadors
  • Regional-level Competition Winners will get an opportunity to participate in National-Level Bootcamp at AICTE HQ, New Delhi
  • National-level Competition Winners will be awarded MIC Innovation Award 2020
  • Selected Teams from National-level Competition will be eligible for Incubation Linkages and Funding Support up to INR 10 Lakhs per team as well as be a part of the International Start-up Ecosystem Exposure Visits.

  • Round 1 - Business Plan Competition: February 29, 2020
  • Round 2 - Workshop on Prototype Development: March 2020
  • Round 3 - Institute-level Demo Day (Finale): March / April 2020

Details of Institute-level Round 1: Business Plan Competition


KJSIEIT – IIC invites innovative ideas / business plans (individually or in a team of 2-4) from students of FE, SE and TE (all departments) to solve the problems related to the following themes:

  • Healthcare & Biomedical devices
  • Agriculture & Rural Development
  • Smart Vehicles / Electric Vehicle / Electric Vehicle Motor and Battery Technology
  • Food Processing
  • Robotics and Drones
  • Waste Management
  • Clean & Potable water
  • Renewable and Affordable Energy
  • Security & Surveillance systems, etc.

Solutions may use IoT, AI, ML, ICT, cyber-physical systems, Blockchain, Cognitive Computing, Cloud Computing, Embedded Systems, etc.

 

Participating teams are encouraged for field trips related to the above themes so that they can explore real-life problems at ground level and come up with potential ideas for their solutions. Tours can be planned for Hospitals, Local Villages, Municipal Corporations, Power Stations, Agriculture and Allied Industries, Food Processing Plants, Logistics Industry Centres, Incubation Centres, Local Industries, Science & Research Centres, etc. under the guidance of faculties and permission of higher authorities.

Last Date of Registration for Round 1: February 26, 2020
Date of Competition Round 1: February 29, 2020

In Round 1, participating teams will have to present their Idea compulsorily through a Business Model Canvas (format & guidelines attached herewith).


3 Winning teams will be awarded certificates and prizes.

Top 10 teams will be nominated for Regional and National level Idea Competition by conducted MIC.

e-Certificates will be presented to all the participants.  


Important:
1. Only the teams shortlisted in Round 1 will be eligible for participation in the forth-coming rounds.
2. In Round 1, the students need to submit only ideas & analysis for solving the identified problems. The implementation will be required later - by April.
